Community Awareness Workshop

These workshops are aimed at young people aged 14 and above. Depending on the topic of the workshop, the audience ranges from perpetrators of sexual abuse, victims, parents, community advocates and professionals.

Taking place within local community venues and at the KIKIT office, these workshops are tailored to the above groups and are run in a range of community languages in order to make them accessible to those who don’t have English as their first language.

Our workshops cover the following topics:

  • Child sexual exploitation awareness (victim vs perpetrator)
  • Sexual health awareness
  • Gang violence and its implications
  • Domestic abuse
  • Citizenship
  • Treatment and available services
  • One-on-one mentoring support for young people aged 14+
  • Safeguarding against extremism and radicalisation

We offer two types of workshop:

Outreach Awareness Workshops

These take place at educational events such as college freshers’ fairs and faith based venues (mosques, churches and gurdwaras). A support worker or one of our volunteers is on hand at these events to engage with people who attend, in order to raise awareness of the above topics that are affecting many people within their local communities.

Tailored Awareness Workshops

We also look at providing workshops, one to one and group awareness sessions tailored for young men aged 15 – 24 years, exploring the detrimental effects of grooming.

KIKIT work with local people and community organisations, providing assertive outreach, workshops and person-centred support, to reduce the risks of Child Sexual Exploitation.

We are happy to create bespoke workshops to address and tackle a whole range of issues and problems that are being faced in colleges, schools, religious venues or youth centres. Those attending these tailor-made workshops will gain an in-depth and invaluable insight into the above topics and the detrimental effects they have on an individual’s health and those around them who are also affected. Depending on the group’s age, we will provide age-appropriate content and include interactive exercises as well.
