KIKIT STATEMENT
The Westminster attack is intended to do one thing and one thing alone – to divide our communities and breed hatred.
Daesh is a poison in our communities. Through social media, it reaches out to our young people with false promises and a twisting of their faith. Offline, they try and encourage people to waste their lives fighting for a false caliphate.
I’m so proud that we’ve managed to stop individuals going to Syria. Every day we work in this community to stop radicalisation. And it’s not an imaginary threat. As Westminster and other attacks have shown, terrorists are in our midst trying to inspire murderous attacks and bloodshed.
We must come together across Britain to keep our communities united. Those who try and divide us must not be allowed to succeed. On the day of the Westminster attack, the extreme right wing used the shocking events to vilify all Muslims in this country. Like Daesh, they’re only happy when society is becoming more polarised.
Kikit will continue to do its bit to sweep Daesh off our streets. Our resolve is strengthened when terrorists commit outrages like this. We will work every day to make sure our young people turn their back on the hatemongers.
